Harmonization of existing billing systems with the adoption of a single system embedded in a complex application map integrated with AS400 and Enterprise BI.

Approach & Solution

Approach

Energywave deals with residential energy efficiency. With around 38,000 divisional points, it is one of the leading players in the heat consumption allocation market.

Energywave's need was to automate the calculation of heat allocation and billing through a flexible and efficient solution, integrating the new solution within the existing application map.

Through the application of a specialized technical advisory methodology in the heat sector, it was possible to identify the types of billed tariffs outside the information systems and to carry out the subsequent porting to the new billing engine.

This approach made it possible to ensure a gradual adoption of the solution's functionalities on the basis of the tariff models, initiating a process of standardization of the billing and accounting processes within an operational context that was not subject to revision (metering processes, credit management, reminders).

Solution

The new billing solution followed a step-by-step approach, focusing on the different contract macro-types to be managed, the migration of existing customers onto FdL's SSE solution, as well as the evolution of existing functionalities addressed by a gap analysis activity that highlighted the management of additional billing cases not present in the proposed solution.

The types of billable contracts concerned the services of Supply and Plant Management in District Heating, Heat Management and Heat Allocation, with a package-driven approach, with System Integration activities to manage the evolutions envisaged by the customer.

At the end of the project, it was agreed to manage ongoing support for each heating season, working on the parameterisation of new types of contracts, such as the 110% Superbonus, guaranteeing the maintenance of the quality required by the standardisation of business processes.
