Approach
Our customer is historically one of the leading manufacturers in the U.S. submarine industry. In 2017 it was awarded a major contract for the production of a new class of nuclear submarines, thus having to face up to the complexity deriving from scalability in the production of these machines, assembled with millions of components.
We are both proud and glad to have been involved in an innovative project, for which we made available our skills in production engineering and product lifecycle management (PLM) to address aspects with significant impacts on planning, such as duplication of processes, excessive re-machining and traceability.
Solution
We provided a real solution within the Industry 4.0 paradigm, implementing, for the first time in North America, a production planning process based on Siemens Next Generation Planning, through the transformation of 4th Generation Design (4GD) planning data into a detailed production plan.
With our experts we have designed and executed complete cycles and test plans of our solution, integrating it at each interested customer facility. Furthermore, we provided training and support to end users throughout the entire project. In this way, we have enabled the customer to improve the management of planning data and the processes that lead to the release of new products.
